Rural/Metro Celebrates 64 Years of Public Safety Services
On February 2, Rural/Metro Corporation will celebrate 64 years since its founding in 1948. Locally, Rural/Metro has served the Colorado since 1998. Rural/Metro of Central Colorado and Pridemark Paramedic Services, a Rural/Metro Company, currently serve the communities of Arvada, Aurora, Edgewater, Fairmount, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and Wheat Ridge. The company will celebrate its founding and honor its dedicated employees by taking cake to company ambulance stations, conducting a radio call out on February 2, and holding a trivia game for employees.
Rural/Metro Corporation, through its ambulance and specialty fire protection services, impacts nearly 1.2 million lives annually in 20 states and 440 cities and counties across the nation. The company boasts nearly 6,000 paramedics, EMTs and firefighters and 2,000-plus professional staff.
About Rural/Metro in Colorado
Rural/Metro Ambulance entered the Colorado market in 1998 after winning the competitive bid to provide 9-1-1 transportation services to the City of Aurora through a partnership with the Aurora Fire Department. In 2008, Rural/Metro was chosen to provide backup 9-1-1 transportation services to Littleton Fire Rescue after winning a competitive bid process. The coverage area includes the City of Littleton, Littleton Fire Protection District, and Highlands Ranch. In 2010, Rural/Metro Ambulance acquired Pridemark Paramedic Services, expanding our Colorado workforce to 400 employees and expanding the company’s 9-1-1 response area to include Arvada, Edgewater, Fairmount, and Wheat Ridge.
Rural/Metro also provides non-emergency medical transportation services to several Denver Metro area hospitals and healthcare providers. Rural/Metro Ambulance offers a complete range of medical transportation services: wheelchair, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Bariatric, Advanced Inter-Facility Paramedic (AIFP), and Critical Care Transportation (CCT).
Rural/Metro also provides event medical standby services for numerous local events and event centers including Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City and Arapahoe Park Horse Track in Aurora.
Community involvement is a priority for Rural/Metro and Pridemark, who offer kid-centered programs designed to enhance safety and health awareness for local families. Rural/Metro provides a state-recognized car seat safety inspection station, offering free safety seat checks to residents Monday-Friday, by appointment. The company also conducts safety demonstrations at local schools and community fairs.
